Probably all of us like to have some adventure and go on tours but what if you don’t have enough money to do so? You try and save or opt for some cheaper options. These two women decided they needed some more adventure in their lives and wanted to do something to accomplish it but didn’t have enough to go on tours often. So they had an idea and decided to make their own motor home with features they needed rather than spend a small fortune on a custom motor home that comes with some features they didn’t want. This way they could put their money to good use and for the long term. They designed and created a living space that suited their needs perfectly. They purchased a bus for a mere $2,000 and turned it into something unbelievable.
The inside of the bus the two women bought was a complete wreck. It had all the seats still attached which they needed to get rid of as it was useless to them. The ceiling was a little rough and the flooring was less than par so they decided to change it completely.
The good part was that the bus was in great shape mechanically and had no rust. These two factors were vital for a successful motor build that would be on a budget for them. They had to remove everything in order to start from scratch. This meant removing the roof panelling and the seating, as well as some of the wall, sheeting that the bus already had.
The two removed everything that needed to be taken off. Now they had a blank canvas to work on and remodel it the way they needed. It was time to come up with a plan and get the construction work started.
Generally, buses come with little to no insulation which is the worst thing on cold chilly winter days. It is a large space that can be difficult to heat or cool so they spared no expense on insulation. The women filled every nook and cranny and used spray foam insulation to provide the most value for the confined space. Although spray foam insulation is a little more costly than fibreglass insulation, it will pay off big in this type of application.
With the ceiling and walls now being insulated, they started to build the furniture and cover the walls of the bus. The two women had an idea to use a flexible melamine to cover the ceiling which provides a natural wood grain look. A sturdy door lock was installed, to keep out the bears and other critters. The two women installed every amenity they could think of that would be practical and useful in their motor home. A proper fridge and stove, a small kitchen and a bathroom with a shower and a sink along with a place to eat and sleep.
Now the bus was looking a little more than just simple and useful. It was beautifully decorated and looked incredibly comfortable and spacious. An electric 4-burner stove and oven were installed on a wooden countertop. The space was limited so they had to come up with some storage ideas that wouldn’t take much space.
The desk that was installed doubles as a slide-out dining table that sits right in front of the futon couch. A washer/dryer combo was also utilized to save some space. This is one luxury that not most moving houses have. They also installed a closet for their clothes and necessary items.
There is even a small bedroom towards the rear of the bus combined with the futon up front makes for plenty of sleeping room. Next to the restroom and in front of the rear bedroom is a shower which is the most essential thing when two women are on their adventure trip. There is also a basin-styled sink on the tile countertop.
